Greyhound collars: saluki, afghano, english and italian
If you have a greyhound in your home, you know that it's not a dog anyway. It's part of the "sighted hunters" family and is called an aristocratic dog for the elegance of its body: medium to large, so thin it looks like Denuded while you may spend a lot of money in giving him the food the most suitable foods to him. Not to mention the head, long and thin.
Greyhound therefore, unlike other dogs, is a breed of the very special neck constitution, so you can not buy any collar at all but you have to purchase a special item for him.
There are several sub-categories of greyhounds, also known to understand which accessories are best suited to your greyhound. Following are the most well-known and diffused:
- If your dog is a greyhound saluki also known as Persian Greyhound, the typical Middle Eastern origins of this type will surely have the elongated and skinny head. The skull will never be rounded and fairly wide. The neck is very robust, strong, elongated and slender;
- Afghan greyhound is recognizable for its long clump but also for its long pointed muzzle;
- The English greyhound also called greyhound or whippet is among the greyhounds certainly the fastest is very suitable for home life and tends to get attached to their master and children easily. Compared to other subcategories has the wider neck of the head and is therefore more exposed at risk of slipping and leaking the dog as well as Galgo, also known as Spanish Greyhound;
- Italian greyhound has a square trunk and shapes recall those of the Greyhound but of considerably smaller size;
The Martingale collar
It is a very special collar designed specifically for the greyhounds and for all dogs with the longest neck of the normal, such as Dobermann , Alani , etc.
It allows for greater control of the dog by avoiding the choking effect. It is ideal for the Greyhound and Galgo breeds of the particular shape of the neck.
It is made up of two linked rings: the first one, the largest in the opening position, is placed on the dog's neck, the second one is equipped with a hook to which the leash will be hooked.
Lightweight Collar
Collar for particularly lightweight dogs, in soft fake leather, with continuous adjustment, tear-resistant and traction-resistant and with aluminum closure. Available in three sizes
When the dog does not pull the collar, it does not cling to the neck and the boss can pull it easily by grabbing it with two hands, removing it from the head. If it pulls or tries to divide it exerts a tension that is transferred from the dog to the leash to your arm. There is therefore the closure of the ring to which the leash is attached and the one placed on the neck.

Customized versions of customized and online stores are available: some sites offer unique designs because they are entirely handmade made of leather padded inside to provide the hairy family with the utmost comfort.
You can also choose between models decorated with metal studs applied or personalized with particular themes (which also makes them particularly expensive as those of the Malucchi brand starting from 100 euros up).
Most of these collars are wide enough at least in the central part just to not overload the neck that narrows slowly toward the end.
You can also find online versions made of 100% Made in Italy high quality raw materials: these are models that are coated in precious Cashmere Wool, classic and elegant with varnish laces. Of course the price is not really cheap: it starts at 50 euros.
You can also find cheaper versions (more or less on the 15 euro) made in Italian leather and available in six different sizes depending on the circumference and neck height.
There are also satin versions, certainly more particular and comfortable for your greyhound.
